    This is a well worn 1970’s Gibson RB800 Mastertone Banjo.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.

    Description
    This banjo was so worn I decided to not clean it or do any restoration.  I call Instruments like this Organic Relics because this has naturally become what so many people are paying extra and excessive money for.  This is a true relic.  Plus this is a true mastertone and it is vintage.
    The shell is a thick multiply original shell.  This has a maple neck and resonator each with cherry sunburst finish.  The neck and resonator have white binding and RB800 binding as well.  All of the hardware is original and originally was gold and engraved.  Most of the gold has worn off but this was originally gold.  The fretboard is ebony and has the RB800 inlay pattern.  The tuners are original, gold Gibson and engraved.  This is all original other then new frets and has a very nice archtop hardshell case.
    Condition
    This is very worn.  Basically all of the gold has worn off.  There is wear in the finish on the neck and resonator.  Structurally all of the wood and metal is in good shape but the gold and finish have been very worn.  The frets are new so they are in good shape.  The fretboard is the only part I cleaned and I also oiled it.  The case is in good shape.
    Set Up
    This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse.  The head is a Remo frosted head which is set to 90.  The bridge is a Snuffty Smith Bridge and the intonation is set.  The strings are new Huber Truetone .10 gauge strings and this plays GREAT!!!  This is a phenomenal choice for the person that wants a top quality instrument for function.
