This is a gorgeous Vintage Stelling Sunflower Banjo.  This has been inspected and set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta Georgia.

Description
Geoff Stelling has decided to retire from Banjo Building and last year he was inducted into the American Banjo Museuem Hall of Fame.  This has caused his already popular banjos to soar in desirability and they have gotten very difficult to find.  We are searching everywhere and paying huge prices just to have these in stock and available.
This has a thick shell with a gorgeous curly maple neck and resonator each with w/b/w binding.  I want to really emphasize this is one of the most beautiful resonators I have seen, Geoff chose a really nice cut of maple for this one.  The hardware is nickel and all original with the possible exception of the armrest.  The only reason I am not sure the armrest is original is it does not have Stelling engraved on it.  However in 1986 Geoff Stelling may have used these armrests considering this is such an early example of a Stelling Banjo.  The tone ring is a no hole ring and the flange is a one piece Stelling Ribbon Flange, both are original.  The fretboard is ebony with a Stelling Hearts and Flowers inlay pattern.  This is beyond gorgeous and definitely a popular model for Stelling.  The banjo also includes the original case.
Condition
This is in fantastic shape and has been professionally cleaned at the Banjo Warehouse.  The only wear that is noteworthy is some marks on the fretboard because this banjo has been refretted.  There are some scratches on the wood from taking the original frets out.  That is really the only actual wear.
The banjo has been disassembled and the hardware has been buffed to a nice glow.  The wood has been waxed and has a really nice shine as well.  There are spikes at the 9th, 10th and 12th frets.  If you want a spike at the 7th we can do that.  The fretboard has been cleaned and oiled as well.
The original case is in good shape with only light wear.  This is definitely a beautiful banjo but I do know some people that would want to know about the fretboard wear from the refret.
Set Up
This has been set up at the Banjo Warehouse in Atlanta.  The head is a new Huber frosted head which is set to 90.  The bridge is also a new Huber bridge and the intonation is set.  The strings are new Huber Truetone .10s and the banjo plays great.  This is professionally set up to operate at peak performance.
