Description
This is a very solid 1960s open back Gretsch banjo with a brass rod tone ring, a 7 ply pot with a bound, and an nicely shaped and smooth satin finished neck with inlaid dot fret markers and side dots, a geared 5th string tuner and a railroad spike at the 7th fret. Not sure of the neck wood although it looks very similar to my original StewMac eagle kit neck that I built in the early 80s. The guitar type tuners, although not my favorites but easily replaceable, and the rather frumpy plain headstock are not to my liking but then who cares what I like--and what difference does it make in the playability and sound of the banjo? This would make a very nice beginner banjo or that banjo you would take on a camping trip when you wouldn't want to take your high-dollar main squeeze with you. I got too many banjos and have a Fender Precision bass in my sights so I'm selling this banjo (not that the sale of this banjo will cover the cost of the P-bass but take mercy. and bid high! And, I'm selling the banjo as-is with no returns and will only charge the cost of shipping over the winning bid--no handling costs or any of that nonsense and I will ship within two days of receipt of payment through PayPal only. I'll also cover the cost of insurance in case of a shipping mishap...
