Description
VINTAGE CLEAR GLASS BUTTER DISHI’m not sure this actually is a butter dish, but it reminds me of one my mother used back in the 1950’s when butter was often bought in large blocks.
If it’s not a butter dish I hope someone will let me know what it actually is.
It was found at the back of a cupboard in my 97-year-old mother-in-law’s house.
·
It is clear glass with a striation pattern (see photo)
·
It measures about 5 ¾” x 3 ½” x 2 ¾” tall.
·
There is a very, very small chip on the edge of one of the shorter ends but it is barely noticeable.
There is also a curbed line on the bottom inside.
I cannot feel it on the outside but can on the inside.
It feels more like a deep scratch than a crack and might possibly have happened during manufacturing.
·
Other than the above, the dish is in really nice condition.
