    Description

After the founder's death Oscar Schmidt company made some banjos with Lange-Tone rims and resonators which they bought from Paramount banjo manufacturer, Wm. L. Lange.  This tenor banjo is a "Gold Flake" model with gold sparkle peghead overlay and gold sparkle trim on the resonator sides and back.  This Oscar Schmidt banjo was made in the early 1930's in Jersey City, N.J. and features a wood rim and heavy flange combination.  Lange stamped his patent number on the flange.  Please see the photos that are a part of the description.  The peghead has a sparkle peghead overlay and the resonator is trimmed in gold sparkle material.  I tried to photograph the "sparkle" in the sun with less than optimal results.  The head is 10 3/4"; 19 fret 23" scale with string height 3/16" at fret 15 with 1/2" bridge.  The neck is straight.  The armrest is modern which I added.  And the head is a Remo mylar replacing the original skin.  The tailpiece is kind of unique reverse flip-up.  The banjo comes with a hard case.  Sold As Is.  The banjo is in good cosmetic shape with some blemishes consistent with its age.  Shipping only to U. S. lower 48 states.  Payment requested within 3 days from end of auction.
