Description
I got this with a Vegaphone neck on it. The finish of the neck and this pot actually matched. But I do not believe this is a Vega pot.24 Brackets with quality tension hoop.
Translucent unbranded banjo head in excellent serviceable condition similar to Remo Renaissance head.
Has a 1/4" round tone hoop that appears to be steel but could be Zinc or AL. A magnet jumps to the tension hoop making testing for for ferrous material inconclusive.
Typical dowel stick configuration with a square hole on the neck end and a round small screw hole at the tailpiece end.
Includes the screw and bracket to attach the resonator to a dowel stick. This resonator does NOT come with the dowel stick.
The resonator is shaded yellow brown. Moderately strong birds eye maple veneer. The binding on the top and bottom of the sides of the resonator is an attractive vintage vibe tortoloid.
24 individual flanges with the typical opening at the tailpiece end.
The one puzzling aspect of the rim is that there is tear-out around the screws holding the shoes on the rim. I would not expect this with a commercial rim.
The head is 11" or possibly even 11 and 1/16".
I have not cleaned this banjo as some folks like the tarnish and others want it shiny. There is some rust on a few of the tension hooks, and slight brassing, particularly on the tension nuts. Should easily polish up.
Weighs 5 pounds with the resonator and 3 pounds 9 ounces without the resonator.
If you know its pedigree please share.
I am limited to 12 photos which is not enough--ask questions if you need more information.
No neck or dowel stick included. No tailpiece.
