    Vintage THE OLD OREGON TRAIL PAINTED LICENSE PLATE TOPPER Rare Old Advertising Sign. Convex embossed curved edges and guaranteed to be an old original. Excellent condition and displays well. Made by the Erickson Co. of Des Moines as pictured. Before bumper stickers were invented license plate toppers were the only way to advertise on your car as you drove around town and advertised for free. Unless you know the seller if the listing says VINTAGE, USED, or PRE-OWNED and it is not guaranteed it is probably not an old original.  This is NOT a flat porcelain (enamelware)  reproduction from ING-RICH or a foreign country. Beware of those selling NOTHING but signs of some type. There are now NON-PORCELAIN, totally flat, reproductions being offered, sometimes as vintage.
