Description
"Wizard" Banjo Ukulele Uke - Ossipee, New Hampshire written in the headLittle Orphan Annie & More.
Vintage 1920's / 1930's ukulele banjo.
Read below for cool information on the writing on the head!
Completely disassembled, cleaned, headstock refinished, fretboard and frets filled and leveled, set up ready to play.
Tuners are vintage with 3 original and one replacement.
Nice birdseye maple veneer on the pot with checkerboard inlay pattern around the outside.
Script "Wizard" inlaid in headstock.
4 missing "L" shoes and hook nut sets. Hooks and nuts came with the banjo when I acquired it and mostly match.
I added 4 modern hex shoes that you might want to just discard - head holds fine without them, or add 4 hook nut sets.
Nice bound fretboard cleaned and frets leveled and dressed.
A very loud, bright sounding instrument that can be softened / muted with padding behind the dowel.
Nice ink drawings and sayings on the head including names (probably friends) and:
. "Little Orphan Annie."
. Disney's "Snow White" dating it to 1938.
. "You Bring the Ducks" is a 6 minute short movie from 1934.
. "Want to Buy a Duck?" Is the catch phrase of
Joe Penner
(born
József Pintér
; November 11, 1904 – January 10, 1941) an American 1930s-era vaudeville, radio and film comedian.
. "Come up and See me Sometime" was a song and catch phrase of the legendary Mae West.
A nice vintage instrument and conversation piece to boot.
I've been restoring banjo ukes for about 30 years. Check my feedback and bid with confidence.
